Site Tours
Mount Morgan
A site tour for students to:
- engage with the mining industry by visiting the Mount Morgan mine site
- understand how technology has affected the mining industry
- make links between industry and potential career pathways
A professional development activity for teachers to:
- provide a historical perspective of mining, focusing on the changes brought about by improvements in mineral extraction and processing technology
- access opportunities for exploration and analysis of local geology
- align knowledge and skills to Junior Science and Senior Chemistry subjects
Port of Brisbane (TBA)
The purpose of this site tour is to provide students studying Chemistry, Physics and/or Engineering Technology at QMEA participating schools with the opportunity to visit the Head Office of SIMTARS to:
• Raise awareness of the types of activities undertaken by SIMTARS;
• Highlight the variety of occupations available to students as future career pathways and
• Identify what qualifications and/or work experience students will need for identified career pathways.
