Stanwell Corporation Limited (Stanwell) is Queensland’s largest power generator with the capacity to supply more than 45 per cent of the state’s peak power needs, comprising of coal, hydro and gas facilities across Queensland. Stanwell bid available generation capacity into the National Electricity Market (NEM), a wholesale market managed by the Australian Energy Market Operator for the supply and purchase of electricity.

Stanwell invests in projects and partnerships that demonstrate economic, social and environmental benefits, and assist in consolidating its position in the NEM.

Following a restructure of the Queensland Government Owned generators, Stanwell’s existing portfolio was strengthened from 1 July 2011 with the addition of Tarong and Tarong North power stations and Meandu Mine in the South Burnett region, Swanbank B and Swanbank E power stations near Ipswich, and Mica Creek Power Station situated in north-west Queensland.
