Ensham Resources operates coal mining operations approximately 40km northeast of Emerald in Central Queensland. Ensham was established in 1993 as a joint venture among major international companies and their Australian subsidiaries. Ensham currently has an established Open Cut operation with 4 draglines in operation. Ensham is currently developing a new Bord and Pillar Underground operation which produce around 1.6million tonnes per annum from 2012. Ensham supplies high quality thermal coal to both the Australian and International market with major customers in Japan, Korea, India, Taiwan and China.
