About Us

QMEA works with 31 state, catholic and independent schools across Queensland. The QMEA is a virtual academy and is a partnership of the Queensland Resources Council, the peak industry association, the Queensland Government, in particular Skills Queensland and many of the largest and most forward thinking resources companies in the world. QMEA is primarily funded by its industry sponsors.

The QMEA Board directs the activities of the QMEA team. The QMEA team is comprised of a Director, School and Industry Partnerships Manager (SIPM) and several regional Project Implementation Field Officers (PIFOs). Each region involves a cluster of schools serviced by a PIFO. The team is supported by an administration officer and a school-based trainee.

QMEA develops its events to support career development and knowledge for students across four different pathways - operator, trade, technical and professional. QMEA also supports teacher development via professional development, awards and use of contextualised work units.

Formed in 2005, QMEA’s focus is to help young people start highly rewarding and long term careers in the resources sector and support its industry sponsors to develop their workforce for the future.
