The QMEA provides a pipeline for students interested in resources sector careers.
It works with 38 state, catholic and independent schools across Queensland. The QMEA is a virtual academy and is a partnership between the Queensland Resources Council, the peak industry association, the Queensland Government and many of the largest and most forward thinking resources companies in the world. QMEA is primarily funded by its industry sponsors with support from the Queensland government.
The QMEA Board provides oversight of the activities of the QMEA team. The QMEA Team is comprised of a Director of Skills, Education & Diversity, a Manager of Business Development & Diversity and three Project Managers working across STEM, VET and Education & Innovation, who are responsible for the delivery of a suite of high quality programs across the Academy.
QMEA develops events to support career development and knowledge for students across two pathways – professional and trade. QMEA also supports teacher development via professional development and through the education website www.oresomeresources.com which amongst a wealth of information houses contextualised work units.
QMEA’s focus is to help young people to seek pathways into highly rewarding and long term careers in the resources sector and support its industry sponsors to develop their workforce for the future.
